My New to Me Camera

A few months ago I inherited a bunch of old cameras mostly non working brownie boxes and a camera that you can get film for anymore. So all will go on display with the rest of my camera collection. But one of the cameras was a Super Richoflex that my grandfather purchased while stationed in Japan in the 50s.

vintage-cameras-1 Yesterday, I took a closer look at the camera realized that it still had film it! That film has been that camera for almost half a century! According to my mom she said, that my grandfather hasn’t used in her lifetime or at least he stopped using in the 60s.

Since, I know almost nothing about the operation of these old cameras, I took the old camera to Garland Camera & Repair since they know and repair vintage cameras. They took a look at the old camera and pulled the film. We found that it had Black and White Kodak Verichrome Pan Film in it and they believe the film to be at least 40 years old! They believe the film is still good but would need to find a place that specializes in processing old film and restoring those images that come off the film.

So now I need to find a processing center (wet lab) that specializes in old film processing.

Plans For This Old CameraSuper Richoflex

Most people do not know this, but I sometimes still shoot with film. So while at the store, I got an estimated to get it cleaned up and make any repairs needed. I was pleased to find out it would only cost $85. This includes the cleaning, shutter spring replacement, and fix the twin lens system.

I have always wanted a camera like this and now that I have one, I plan to get it fixed up so I can start using the camera.

So hopefully in a month or so I will have it fixed up and I will be able to starting shooting with it.
