9 Examples of Lomography Created with PhotoShop

For as long as remember, I have always loved old cameras and the vintage images they can create or have created in the past. You never know what you are going to get with those old cameras and film. And I am not the only that likes these old cameras, in the last ten years this style of photography has grown and is still growning in popularity and it’s called; Lomography.

In short, Lomography is using old vintage cameras and toy cameras to create a unique image. Some would say these were bad pictures because, these types of cameras produce images that have the wrong colors (usually brighter and unnatural), wrong focus, vignetting effects, and light leaks. All of these flaws are what makes this style of photography. With Lomography, you want these crazy effects.

How to Create a Lomography Effect in Photoshop

With Lomography growing in popularity, so has the price on these types of cameras. Just a few years ago you could pick up a toy camera, cheap Russian camera, and even a few vintage camera for next to nothing. Now, you can expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $100 for some of the more popular models. But you can also find them a lot cheaper. Just have to look around.

But if you are ready to make a purchase, check these cameras out. They are the most popular models.

For me and for others, this can be an expansive hobby. So, if you love the look of Lomogarphy, but do not want to spend the money, you can create Lomography in Photoshop. Of course, Lomographers will call you out if you try and pass a photoshopped image as true Lomography. Most photographers can tell the difference. So make sure to tell people you created your image effect with Photoshop.

As for learning how to create this effect in Photoshop, I create a tutorial on Evolutionary Designs Design Blog on how to create a Lomography effect in Photoshop. There are quite a few tutorials available for creating this effect in Photoshop, so I decided to play with Photoshop and come up with the easiest and the quickest way to create a Lomography effect. I do have plans to work on some other techniques but right now, this is the east way to do it.
