A Few Hours at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum

A week from last Wednesday I had the chance to visit the Cavanaugh Flight Museum at the Addison Airport. When I was younger, I visited the museum several times before. Usually during holiday air shows. But this is the first time in almost 7 years since I lasted visited and I was able to bring a Canon EOS REBEL T1i and old tripod.  Unfortunately the weather was overcast but still bright enough to make the HDR shots not come out.

The museum is great, there are a lot of planes, artifacts, and even some old cars. All of the hangars are stuffed full of old World War II birds and few birds from Korea and Vietnam. They are so stuffed that it makes it hard to take good shot with the camera. You can even find random cars shoved in between the planes!

This is great for people wanting to see the planes only. But for those wanting to take pictures of the planes, it makes it hard to take those shots.

As see you can see from the hanger it full. Not only is it full, the lighting is bad. Most of the light comes from the limited overhead lighting and skylights. In order to bring out the colors in the aircrafts I had to brighten the images.

Normally I get to process all the images from a shoot in just a few days. But for the last few weeks, my schedule has made my free time very limited. So I spent most of that free time spending it with my family and working on my images and other projects late at night after everyone was asleep.

All the images have been pre processed and I am going through picking the best ones for post processing and HDR Processing. The images posted here are just a preview of some of the planes I shot. I will post some of the images with a back story on the planes and what effects I did for the final pictures.
