Random Picture of the Week #68: A Quiet Country Night On the Prairie Under the Stars
This week’s random image is of late night shot of a starry country night on the prairie in Palo Pinto County, Texas.
A Quiet Country Night On the Prairie Under the Stars
Last Friday night a photographer friend and I went out to the Dodson Prairie’s St. Boniface Catholic Church to shoot the sunset and Milky Way over the old prairie church. But with our luck, the Milky Way came into view behind us and we didn’t want to stick around until 4 am to start shooting the Milky Way with the Milky Way over the church. The shoot would take at least an hour or so then we would have to drive another two and half hours back to Dallas.
So after midnight, we got tired and had plenty of shots of the church. We then setup and shot the other side of the church. Afterwards, as we were cleaning up my friend setup and used these power poles to add detail the star shot. After seeing his shot, I setup my camera and shot the poles as well.
With the lack of a low f-stop lens and camera that doesn’t that is very noisy at high ISO at night but it still looks good and I plan to do more shots like this in the future.
It just a little complicated, since I have to drive out west for over two hours to avoid the light pollution.
About the Image
This shot was taken just after midnight on Friday June 19th, 2015 with a Canon EOS Rebel T1i and Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II SLR Lens. I then processed the image with Adobe Lightroom and Topaz DeNoise to remove as much noise as possible without softening the details of the image.
