This strange looking tower over looking the harbor is actually a modern take on a lighthouse.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"http:\/\/evolutionarydesigns.net\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/Sullivans-Island-South-Carolina-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; margin-right: auto; border: 0px;\" title=\"Charleston Light on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina\" src=\"http:\/\/evolutionarydesigns.net\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/Sullivans-Island-South-Carolina-1_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"Charleston Light on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Charleston Lighthouse on Sullivan&#8217;s Island, South Carolina<\/h3>\n<p>The Charleston Light on Sullivan\u2019s Island, South Carolina is a modern monolith structure and is the last major lighthouse built by the federal government. When you look at the lighthouse it looks like air traffic control tower and not like the traditional lighthouse that we see along the coast.<\/p>\n<p>The light was designed to withstand winds up to 125 miles per hour with its triangular shape pointed towards the ocean.<\/p>\n<p>On May 29th, 2008, Charleston Lighthouse was transferred from the Coast Guard to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">National Park Service<\/a> to protect this historic structure and to prevent commercial development on the site. Although the tower is maintained the park service, the light will be maintained by the coast guard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<em>Source: <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousefriends.com\/light.asp?ID=334\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Charleston (Sullivan&#8217;s Island), SC<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>About the Image<\/h3>\n<p>I took this shot by hand on a rocky boat with my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00BF9MUBM\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00BF9MUBM&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=evolutdesign-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Sony Nex-3N<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00BC4LJL2\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00BC4LJL2&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=elemsbackgard-20&amp;linkId=S2PWRJMI3YDFJMSM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Sony SEL55210mm 4.5-6.3 OSS Lens<\/a>, then processed it with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s\/?_encoding=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;field-keywords=adobe%20lightroom&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;sprefix=adobe%20lightroom%2Celectronics%2C234&amp;tag=evolutdesign-20&amp;url=search-alias%3Dsoftware\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Adobe Lightroom<\/a> to crop, straightened, and remove dust spots from the image. Then I post processed the image with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.evolutionarydesigns.net\/blog\/topaz-clairity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Topaz Labs Clarity<\/a> to add more texture, remove shadows, boost brightness and contrast.
