Random Image of the Week #54: Grain Elevators and Grain Silos Near Frost, Texas
This week’s random image was taken last December when I spent the day exploring HWY 22 from Blooming Grove, Texas to Hillsboro, Texas. The image is of a set of private and unknown installation of grain elevators and grain silos near Frost, Texas.
Grain Elevators and Grain Silos Near Frost, Texas
I don’t know what it is, but I love grain elevators and grain silos. The older the better. Every time I see one that is active or abandoned that looks good enough to photograph, I have to stop and shoot it.
As you drive down HWY 22 you see mostly see large large farms and ranches. From Blooming Grove, Texas to Hillsboro, Texas they had recently finished the harvest of their cotton fields and the fields set in rest for next season.
After passing Blooming Grove and Frost, Texas you will see a variety of sizes and styles of grain silos. Some are right on the highway and some you have to leave the highway and explore the back roads to find them.
The one pictured above is a modern installation that looks to be privately owned or at least is company/coop owned and is not publically announced at this location. It can be seen from the highway and is just a few minutes west of Frost, Texas.
About the Image
The image was shot by hand early in the afternoon on a gloomy day with my Sony Nex-3N and a Sony SEL16F28 16mm f/2.8 lens. I then edited the image in Adobe Lightroom. Next, I post processed with Topaz Clarity to add texture, brighten, and bring out the details in the image. Then I removed the dust spots. Finally, I used Topaz DeNoise to remove the noise from the image.
