Some people take big risks with SEO and it could damage the future success of their site. I’ve tried to show them a few of the techniques they should stay away from. Nobody can blame you for wanting to take dangerous risks when it comes to SEO because the rewards are so good. Within a few weeks you could skyrocket to the top of the search engines by performing shady techniques. Lots of people do it and they make great money, plus once they have their rankings they can sit back and relax because you can’t be any better than number one. It’s not all strawberry flavored roses because eventually their websites will tank. If you keep using these black hat techniques you better save all the money you make because you won’t be making any pretty soon. If you’re in any doubt as to what those sneaky techniques are, we can look at them now so you’ll know to avoid them in the future.
Paying for Backlinks
Google says you’re not allowed to pay for backlinks and quite rightly so. It would mean the people with the most money would end up at the top of the rankings instead of the quality sites. If they find out you have bought any links you will be heavily penalized, so you’re safer staying away from them. Most people who sell links will have lots on their site and you will get caught. Spamming Article Directories
Do you know how to spin an article? Anyone who answered yes must have looked into it in the past, but there are some people who fall in love with the concept. Who wouldn’t want to save time by spinning an article a thousand times instead of writing each one individually? Google is getting more intelligent and because your articles read horribly they will eventually be wiped off the face of the Internet.
Don’t use Link Farms
Can you imagine how powerful it would be if you built up a thousand sites and interlinked them? It’s been done before on a much bigger scale and thousands of people had links on thousands of sites pointing back to their main website. They woke up one sunny morning only to find their search engine rankings were destroyed by Google along with their income.
Real Social Media Fans
There are certain places on the web where you can buy a huge number of Twitter followers and Facebook fans. There are more, but those two are the main social media sites. You are trying to make Google think you are popular because you know they take social media influence into consideration in their algorithm, but they know you’re just a fool who is paying money to game the system.
Don’t use Duplicate Content
You might think it’s easy to steal content, but Google will know you took it from somewhere and it won’t give you good search engine rankings. Another thing to watch out for is having duplicate content on your own site because you can be penalized for it. Whenever you produce content it should be fresh and relevant because you will have a better chance of ranking for your keywords and reaching the top of the first page.
