8 Things You Can Do to Speed Up Your Site and Get More Traffic in 2012

Lately Google has mentioned that website owners need to be aware of how fast their site loads. Because they are aware how fast your website loads even if you are not. They also mentioned that if the site loads to slow that it could factor into your site’s search rankings. Image Source: Traffic Trails – Flickr

So with that in mind a few months ago I decided to work on speeding up Evolutionary Designs. Before Google mentioned load times, I always tried to keep the load time on the site as fast as possible. But the load times weren’t the best. So I only used plugins that I thought were necessary and I liked, I removed unused and unnecessary plugins, and used tools to clean up the database all on a regular basis. I found that it wasn’t enough and I needed some more tools to help speed up and build more traffic for the site.

What I Did to Speed Up Evolutionary Designs

To speed up Evolutionary Designs and what I recommend to my friends, family, and clients looking to build traffic and speed up their sites, I recommend doing eight basic things to start out with.

To learn what those eight things are, check out the article I wrote over at wpKube about how you can get more traffic and speed up your site.

Why Does Speeding Up Your Site Helps to Build Traffic?

If you are asking your self, why speeding up your site helps building traffic? I can answer that question for you. Everything I found from search engine marketers, SEO guru websites, and other blogging sites, they all say basically the same thing. The faster the site loads your content, the better rankings Google will give your site in the search results.

In my opinion, I would have to agree, when I sped up my site, I notice a small increase in traffic from the search engines. But, I also noticed that visitors stuck around longer and visited other articles.

For me, I am the same way, if I visit a fast loading site, I am more likely to stick around and visit more pages on the site. But if the site takes to long load, I will finish up what I’m there for and hit the back button. If the site load times are so slow that I feel like I am in a time warp that zapped me back to the era of 56k dial up, then I leave that site right away.

For the complete list of things I do to speed up sites, check out the article about building traffic and speeding up your site.
