One of the most asked questions I get from brand new bloggers and clients is “What’s the different between Self hosted WordPress.org and wordpress.com?” This is an important question and it needs to be answered in a way that your clients will understand. Each service has its pros and cons. If the client chooses incorrectly, this could be costly. So before advising your friends, family, or choosing a service for your new site, make sure you know what those are differences are.

  1. I just love the fact that there is more control over the look, feel and performance of a self-hosted WordPress blog. If anyone is serious about blogging long term then surely self-hosted is the route to take 😉

    • I agree Karen, I took one look at WordPress.com and left it alone when I first started out. I did at one time have an account/website with them, but that was for a school project.

  2. I just love infographics! Thanks for this one, while I already use wordpress.org I still like to know how much more freedom I get by using it and not wordpress.com!

  3. While I’m sure they have their place, I would never use a free blog like WordPress.com or Blogger. I don’t like the idea of not having full ownership of content and having to rely on someone else to keep my blog alive.
