Over the last few years, we have heard rumors about HTML5 and what it will do for web design. Then came articles all about HTML5, mostly introductions to HTML5 and some basic features that worked in most browsers, then they started sharing resources that would only worked in browsers such as Firefox and Chrome.
But recently, things have changed, now most browsers work with HTML5 or at least there is a work around that will make it work or disable it on those browsers that can’t read certain HTML5 elements. In order to get to know HTML5 we need resources. But where we do find the best resources?
Since its release, I have been researching and reading everything I can get my hands on to understand more about HTML5. Sadly, I have only scratched the surface with HTML5. With so many articles, tutorials and other resources available for HTML5, it is hard to figure out where to start. So to cut down on all the confusion I decided to compile a list of my favorite resources, articles, tutorials, and cheat sheets for HTML5. All the listed sites, articles, and resources are sites that I have visited and found over time. I have only listed what I found helpful or might be helpful to others.
Introduction to HTML5
An important part of learning in new coding language is to be understand and know what the language you are using can do, how it works, and will it work on every browser. In this section of the resource guide, I have listed a great collection of introductory articles and websites that tell us what exactly is HTML5 and how it will shape the web in the near future. Some of the articles are older but they are still worth the read. There is no order to the articles and there is not a favorite here, I listed them as found them. I have only listed the best intro to HTML5 articles I could find.
WC3 HTML5
W3C is one of the best places to find the latest information on web standards and they have a lot of great material about HTML5 and is current as of April 2011.
HTML5 Tutorial – Getting Started
Although this HTML5 guide is a few years old, it gives a great introductory to HTML5
