Anyone who knows me in real life or through cyperspace knows I love design. Design is a big part of my life. I left the world of tech support and research analyist projects after getting layed off, not finding a job that worked around my schedule, andgetting paid less than what I worth, I decided I was go back to school and work towards a multimedia degree. So I decided to work part time as a freelance web consultant and work part time in the telecom industry (steady pay) to help with building an income.
To me design, is important, it is art and should be taken seriously in whatever someone is working on. This can be almost anything; a person’s yard, interior design, or buisness design. Design, should be appealing to the eye and that all depends who your try to impress. With that in mind, today I wanted talk with you about designing a web site and what you should NOTncludin that design.
Resently I wrote an article over at Famous Bloggers about design elements that will eventually kill your site. Some of this mistakes are…
- Bad Color Choices
- Noisy Backgrounds
- Too Many Ads
- Using Font the Wrong Way
- Music or video that loads automatically / no controls
For a complete list and why you shouldn’t add these and more bad design elements into your website Please read my article over at Famous Bloggers.
On Stumbleupon – some excellent points, and I think it is worth taking a post every, I dunno, hour to say “hey, does your site play music or video automatically? Then die in a fire.” Seriously, that should be a total no-no by now – you don’t know who’s accessing your site under what circumstances. Having a song blare when they access your site is the height of rudeness.
I agree with these above points. The one that really kills me is people who have tons of pop ups, ads that cover the content and then music and videos that automatically play, that really drives me nuts!
interesting info, thanks for sharing
