Earlier today I was catching up on some reading over at Famous Blogger and I came across an article Hesham wrote about CommentLuv making new design changes to the plugin. The new changes include, bug fixes, updated badges, click tracking, and Dutch translation. Naturally, after reading up on the articles from Famous Bloggers and CommentLuv, I had to update Evolutionary Designs. In order to make the updates, I had to install the new plugin manually. The new plugin has not been updated when looking at the comluv plugin through the dashboard.
NOTE: To install the new pluging simply Delete the old plugin from your installed plugin library >>> Download Plugin from ComLuv >>> Upload the plugin through the install new plugin dashboard.
CommentLuv Settings
Once you get the new plugin is installed, go to the settings page and configure the plugin as needed.
As you can tell, there isn’t much to the settings. It took me about 2 minutes to configure and test. I am happy with the new look and feel of the plugin. If you are not using verson 2.8 (current as of 8/18/2010), I highly recommend getting the latest verson of ComLuv!
CommentLuv New Design
I love the new design and the information available to those reading our comments. I like the fact you can see the user bio, how many times the links have been clicked, where I have been commenting, and my recent articles. These new additions are great and may even give you some new places to comment on. I would like to see a change that makes the links clickable instead of just a label. Maybe this will be added in the future. Below is a screenshot of how I configured ComLuv on this site.
Ok, so u said, “simply Delete the old plugin”. Before I do that, I just want to make sure that doing so doesn’t wipe out everyone’s previous comluv links in their comments on my site. I assume it won’t, but hey, you’ve already been the guinea pig, so why not just ask, right? LOL.
As Andy says, all links will remain in the database. As soon as you install and reactivate the new plugin, they will show up again.
Thanks for the write up James, glad you like the changes. This version is a step towards ComLuv Gold which will have dofollow, nameluv and custom css abilities. I’m not sure if it will be premium or not though. Have to see!
@DazzlinDonna – don’t worry, those links will remain in your database. As soon as you reactivate the new plugin, they will show again.
Thanks Andy for stopping by and commenting. Is there a new post about ComLuv Gold?
Cool. Off to upgrade then. 🙂
I need to upgrade then – why not just use the WP upgrade feature?
Anne, right now the upgrade option and the the upgraded version is not updated through wordpress or its not showing up. The only way to get it right now is through ComLuv’s website. If you want to wait, then it will eventually get there.
Thank you so much for this info – I’m checking my dashboard right now for updates that I’d better make, and of course, like you mention, this isn’t going to show.
I’ll take care of this as soon as possible. Thanks again – hope everything is going well with the blog.
Thanks Ashok, everything is great. Traffic is slowly getting better…
It is nice indeed. Just hovered over your comluv heart (with the + sign) to it in action. It’s got a bit more of info than before and is looking really great. I also like the feature that shows you how many times it was clicked. Will see if I update it now or later..
