What can I say, I am a big fan of fan art and comic book art. I like to display it as wallpaper and I like sharing with our readers. So I am always on the look out for inspirational work or introduce to our readers to new digital artists. Most of these artist will use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create these killer works of art.
Today’s showcase is a Japanese seinen dōjinshi manga series called Afro Samurai that was written and illustrated by Takashi Okazaki. The series is inspired by Okazaki love of soul and hip hop music. The story follows the life of Afro Samurai who witnessed his father’s death during a duel against the gunslinger named Justice while he was a child. During Afro’s adult life, he seeks to avenge his father’s death by killing Justice.
In 2007 Afro Samurai became a 5-episode anime television series by the studio, Gonzo, 2007. I become a fan of the series and the characters of Afro Samurai, when my friend bought the DVD set and we sat down and watched it. Ever since I saw it, I can not get enough of the fan art, the TV shows and comic book art.

This is beautiful James. Never heard of this Afro Samurai, pretty cool looking. I especially love # 2 and 11. I like seeing in-mid fight scenarios.
Yeah Afro Samurai, wasn’t around for very long, but its became pretty popular with the Anime fans.
There some pretty cool designs, it’s a pity I’m nowhere near as good with photoshop etc.. I wish I was, i’m just learning as I go at the moment really

I love watching anime, but I still haven’t seen Afro Samurai yet. It kind of makes me smile about the teddy bear samurai, because I was thinking that in real life, wearing a teddy bear head while fighting with other samurai is very difficult!! Very cool art..I too have anime art as my wallpaper.
These are awesome! I added my voice to the chorus of stumblers and put this on delicious – hope it helps bring in some traffic.
Are you into Cowboy Bebop at all? I have a bazillion posts dedicated to episodes of that series.
