Recently Hootsuite upgraded their Twitter Client to Hootsuite5. During this upgrade they made some changes to how you can ReTweet someone’s status update. It looks like by default (someone please correct me if I’m wrong) , auto web ReTweets are turned on. When go to retweet, you click to retweet someone tweet, instead bringing up edit options, it will automatically tweet without giving you the option to change it. The good news is, they still give you the option to go back to old way of retweeting. If you like to change and edit the retweets or want to schedule retweets then you will need to turn this feature off.
To turn this feature off, all you need to is click on the Owl launch button >>> Settings, Preferences >>> uncheck “Use Twitter Web retweets”.
Once you uncheck and save the preferences then you will have the classic retweet options again.
I’m responding to your support ticket and testing how commentluv handles a comment on this post about auto retweets. (just adding enough text so it isn’t auto spammed)
test again with plugins off
I use Hootsuite when I have the odd problem with TweetDeck, so this is really helpful as I do like to edit my RTs sometimes, just to add a little something extra to the tweet 😉
Hey James, I think everyone was happy to find this feature. I like to schedule Retweets and with the Twitter style retweets that can’t be done.
I’m an even bigger fan of HootSuite than I was before. Thanks.
Really helpful, thank you! Now I’m ready to move on to Analytics. I hope you keep writing HootSuite tips.
Thanks! I really needed that. I am an avid user of Hootsuite and was wondering why I lost the option of editing my RTs, so this is a life saver for me 🙂
Excellent! Thanks so much for this, I like to edit retweets for that personal touch rather than just retweeting automatically. Didn’t like that particular upgraded bit but wasn’t sure how to go back to the original way of doing it.
Thanks for the tip! The new Hootsuite has been making me crazy and that was one of the reasons why! I will get used to it. I will.
