First Impressions
Overall it looks like a supersized iPod Touch and it’s definitely eye candy. Despite it sexy looks, there are some downsides to the iPad.
· No camera on the iPad. Almost all modern netbooks com with a camera. Why not add one? Then again it is basically a slate / tablet computer that doesn’t have a keyboard. You would have to prop it up on something. O wait, Mac probably has a stand you can get for, sold separately.
· No iChat capabilities
· Rumors state that flash driven sites might not be supported, making flash driven sites inaccessible.
· No Multitasking! Sites such as Wired are stating the iPad may work like the iPhone when running appiclations. It will only be able to run one app at a time and there will not be background processing. Without multitasking, it will hurt its appeal and make it harder for some users to purchase the iPad. At least for myself, I think it is an issue. It’s being advertised as a portable device that you can use sitting on the couch or at the coffee shop. If I am surfing the net, emailing or working on something using the iPad, I will want to listen to music. But since you can not multitask, I will have to have an iPod or another device to play my tunes.
· No HDMI port
· no USB ports
· 4:3 aspect ratio
· Apple is using AT&T 3G services only as of right now
· The iPad is dependant on adapters.
· The price is too high. For the price of a fully loaded iPad you can get a decent to high end laptop computer.
Those are just some of the things I do not like about Apple’s new iPad Tablet. As for the reasons why Apple left these important features off, no will truly know. But, Apple is very good at marketing their products. They have a reason for everything they do.
Now for the reasons I like the iPad. First, did I mention the device is sexy as hell? I also like the screen size. Another good point is if you’re an iPhone or Touch user, then the controls and system will be the same. Also some of the apps from the iPhone will work with the iPad. I also like that this can be an ebook reader as well. I have wanted an Amanzon Kindle since they released them, but I never could see myself with something that had one use at that price. With the iPad it will be an all in one solution.
If you can get pass the cons of the Apple iPad, and your willing to lay down $499 (base model) to $829 (fully loaded), then it can be yours in April 2010. As for me, not being able to multitask and the pricing will be a deal breaker. However, I do want to test one, do a hands on review of them before I make a true judgment on this expensive toy. If I do end up purchasing one, it will be a second generation or a third generation model that I will look into purchasing.
What are your thoughts on this?
The iPhone changed the mobile phone world. The iPad will change the netbook, tablet world. Not for what it has, or doesn't have, but much more importantly for the apps that have yet to be created for it. Same happened with the iPhone. The iPhone was a novelty phone until they opened up the world of apps. Now it's a game changer. The iPad will be a novelty tablet until the apps start rolling in, then it will change the world.
Based on my experiences with the iPhone, I'll buy an iPad (1st generation), then I'll buy the second generation, then I'll buy the 3rd and so it. It will be that good.
It doesn't have to be the perfect device out the gate. Everyone says, it doesn't have this, or it doesn't have that. I don't care and many others won't either. I use my iChat and camera in my MacBook about once a year. I don't normally watch movies or need HDMI from my laptop or phone, why would I need it in a tablet? (I have Blue Ray DVD players and media centers for that). It has Bluetooth and Wifi, why do I need USB? The whole point is to NOT have cables attached to this thing. I only want a docking station to charge it while I sleep. Everyone wants to plug stuff into this thing, I hate wires.
I do want more memory. I'll store the world on my iPad, and there is no such thing as too much memory. I do want faster WiFi and I do want a longer battery life. I want to be able to max out the iPad for an entire day without having to worry about the battery. I'm betting the 10hrs is in a max saving mode and probably not burning up the WiFi or 3G all day long.

You make great and valid points. For me I will not buy a new iPad every time one comes out. There is more important things to spend my money on. The price isn't that big of a deal. I just tend to keep my computers for at least two to four years. Everything that I mentioned was what I hear most people complain about. I hate wires as you do. But, this device should be a replacement for the netbook or laptop and have the necessary connectors. I do a lot of traveling. I want something more powerful than a netbook but not as big a notebook. I like the size and thinness of the iPad, but the things it can't do make it where I have to carry a notebook as well.
1. I do watch movies on my netbook or laptop when I am not at home or on a trip. I watch shows through services like hulu or netflix. So the quality needs to be good. As for the HDMI port, I am not sure why so many people are complaining about this. I wouldn't my system up to theiPad
So an at home media center, blue ray doesn't work for me. Second if I have to do reports, web work, ect. A virtual keyboard doesn't work. I could get a blue ray keyboard mouse. But why, that takes up to much. I have a small compact keyboard that fits in my bag and I use that when I am out of the office doing work related reports where a netbook keyboard starts to hurt.
2. A docking station would be a great option as well.
I can't wait to see what apple has in store for the iPad.
