If you my read blog regularly, you know that I tend to mention Blog Engage and occasionally Blogging Wire in my posts. What you do not know is that I spend a lot of my free time on those sites, commenting, voting or working on a new blog post on my Blogging Wire account. Normally on Fridays, I spend most of the morning voting and reading new blog posts that were added. Well today that didn’t happen. When the sites went down, they went down hard and they have been out all of Friday. But Brian, the owner of the sites has been working hard to bring the sites back up. He often tweets out messages with updates and what might be the issue. Because of this, I had to re-plan my social media / blogging schedule. So I set there and tried to figure what I could to burn up my free time at work today.
First I should explain what Blog Engage and Blogging Wire is. In short, both communities are DoFollow Communties created by Brian (@bbrian017) that serves the blogging community. Blog Engage is an invite only revenue sharing blog submission site. Blogging Wire is another community by Brian, but this is a community like WordPress.com running BuddyPress. Brian set this site up for anyone wanting a free blog. He allows you do anything you want and your work is yours and the creator has 100% owner ship of their blog. This site has a better selection of themes, plugins, and revenue options he allows to use on your site. For more information, check it out.
What Can You Do When Blog Engage and Blogging Wire Goes Down?
After sitting around for a few minutes I wrote up a game plan that be could be used if Blog Engage and Blogging Wire goes down again. Of course, if you do not use Blog Engage or Blogging Wire, Why aren’t you? You can use it whenever any of your social media sites goes goes or if you get some free time in your schedule.
- Work on your blog. There is never enough time to work on you blog, there almost always something to do. You can work on customizing your theme. You can do some spring cleaning by getting rid of any unused plugins.
- You can research ways to secure your WordPress account.
- If you get your maintenance work completed, you can always work on your next few posts and get them lined for the week.
- Start researching that next big blog article that’s going to make you famous.
- You can read and comment more on blogs. Today when I wasn’t working on my blog or working on new posts, I went through my lists of blogs I haven’t visited in a while and got caught up with some reading.
- Get on Twitter and spend more time engaging with your followers those that you follow.
- Visit some of your other social media sites you have been neglecting.
- Find new social new social networks to market your sites.
- Learn more about your niche
- Read a good book.
- Ready a crappy book.
- Spend time with your friends and family
- If you can’t find anything else to do, you could always spin around and around on your office chair until the site comes back up.
What are some your tips? I will take your tips and add them to this post. So share away.
Great article! I will surely use some of the points mentioned by you when these services go down!
I read a post by Brian in ProBlogger's forum saying that he's going to make BlogEngage sign up by invitation only.
I haven't been very active there since I submitted the new BlogEngage logo to Brian. Recently I moved to self-hosted WordPress and I definitely need a new account there but the server seems to be down all day today. 🙁
Well, BlogEngage is indeed a good community for us bloggers to engage with each other.

I was having trouble with my Blog Engage "vote" button so I had to remove it, has Brian mentioned anything about it having issues? I really like Blog Engage, and it sends traffic my way regularly…

Last time I heard from him, he was having server isssues, may have been a hard drive failure. If I see him on I will be asking him the status. I think there is an issue with the button because the button is link to his site and it pulls info from his database. If the database is down and it is, then it slow our sites down as well. If it still slow by to tonight. I will be disabling the button until the site comes back up.

All his sites are still down… It transfers me to an Apache HTTP Server Test Page. What's with that error? LOL
Hopefully he's getting it fixed soon. 🙂

You can always take a nap too! 🙂
I found the earlier part of your post most useful for me. I just started to get aware of these platforms. I don't wish to start yet another blog right now. But I have signed up with BlogEngage and started to be active there. I vote almost all those posts that interests me and I found it useful. But I don't have friends there yet. I hope I'll be noticed gradually and accepted as friend soon.
