Today I decided I want to add a floating Twitter Follow Me badge on the right side of the blog wall. After some research, I found that it is pretty simple to add the badge to your website, if you are using a WordPress self hosted site. All you have to do is go the Twitter “Follow” Badge for Site. Once there, just fill out the following fields and generate the code. Then you’re ready to add your code to your blog.
Configuration
- Add your Twitter username.
- Change the label using the drop down label. Your options are; ‘Follow Me’, ‘Follow Us’, ‘Follow’ and ‘My twitter’.
- Select your color for the badge. Select a color that goes with your color scheme on your site.
- Choose what side you want the badge to be on.
- Set your height. The default is 136 pixels from the top.
- Click update code button.
- All that is left is to add your code to your template.
Implementation
- Click on appearance
- select editor
- Select the file footer.php
- Look for the </body> tag. Right before the tag copy your code into the editor.
- If you or any of you users use IE6, the badge will not appear in this browser.
Do you use this icon, and have you made any changes to the icon.
Hi, I don't use the icon, but I see it around a lot and I thought is was a plugin. Thanks for the tips.
