Earlier today I came across a blog post on one of the site I recently started reading I found through Blog Engage, The Site is Blazing Minds. Karen recently posted an article about WordPress and the recent release of WordPress 2.9. She states that “after installing the update, every time I made a post or used a ping back or trackback my WordPress blog would not ping or send pingbacks to other sites!” I heard about this issue. So I decided to wait on the upgrade for a couple of days, wait and see time. Now I think tonight I will make this update.
After seeing her post, I feel more confident that I can easily deal with this issues that might happen when I upgrade. Karen says that by making an edit to the “wp-includes/cron.php” file, the ping issue should be resolved. Please visit her blog post WordPress Stops Pinging – How To Fix It! for instruction to fix this issue. As always, backup “wp-includes/cron.php” before making any changes.
Good to hear it before I update my WP. Hmm.. May be I should wait until 2.9.1 😉
