New Computer Hardware
Last week, I decided to purchase new computer hardware. I have been doing most of my work on a 17′ Toshiba Laptop that was purchased several years ago. I find the computer works great for small projects and when I an working on site or doing a demo for a potential client. But for large graphic design projects or video editing projects, the computer just doesn’t cut it. For the last few months I would just go to the college and use their multimedia lab if I needed to use a larger computer monitor, faster PC, or I needed to use the Mac lab to work on a Final Cut project. This worked pretty well, but during finals week I would have limited access or had to wait for a workstation to open up. Using this system isn’t wasted a lot of my time and I spent more time up at the college then at working on client projects. By purchasing new hardware, I believe this will help with time management.
After several weeks of research I decided that it would be easier if I buy a computer from HP then it would be than building a computer. Don’t get me wrong, building your own computer could save you money, but that is only if you have the time to research, knowledge, and time to build and troubleshoot any bug issues that might come during the build process. After the decision was made, I found that HP had the best prices and the best options and accessories available.
My New HP Computer
I ended up purchasing an HP Pavilion Elite e9270t series that I customized. I then added 2 Asus 23.6 inch 1080P Dual Monitor setup that purchased online from Fry’s Home Electronics, HP wireless all-in one office printer, headset microphone, and a new web cam so I can start doing live chat and video blog posts. Hopefully in a few days, all my new toys will come in. Now I will have to clean up the office area and reorganize the work area! As my new computer and accessories come in, I will give more details. The Computer has a estimated build date of January 15th and should arrive sometime that week, but the rest of the products that I ordered should arrive over the next few days.
Ok, I am drooling now! I have been working from my 15.6 HP laptop for the last 10 days while traveling, but at home my 19" LCD seems smaller and smaller…… may have to invest in some gadgets this year…..
